Three arrested in Sarlahi for online betting of over Rs 574.1 million through 1XBET

KATHMANDU, April 15: A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office of Nepal Police has arrested three individuals from Sarlahi for engaging in online sports betting activities through 1XBET (online betting app).

Those arrested are 31-year-old Sanjay Kumar Sah, 19-year-old Ramji Sah and 30-year-old Rakesh Chaudhary of Malangwa, Sarlahi. Spokesperson for the office, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rabindra Regmi said that they were arrested on the charge of betting on various sports via 1XBET.

"Investigations revealed that the arrested individuals had opened 21 Connect IPS accounts and 98 bank accounts using different mobile numbers," said SP Regmi.

According to the police, the arrested person made transactions worth Rs 574.1 million from those accounts.

Spokesman Regmi said that the police are investigating the three arrested individuals for violating Section 125 of the National Penal Code and Chapter-5, which covers-offenses against Public Interest, Health, Safety, Convenience, and Morals.

The police have seized 9 mobiles, 21 SIM cards, two laptops, one CPU, Rs 62,000 in cash and passbooks of various cooperatives and bank checkbooks from them. Police said that those arrested have been sent to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigation.
