RAUTAHAT, April 25: Amid rising temperature, businessmen in Rautahat have called for permission to operate their businesses until late at night.

A delegation of businessmen led by Pandit Prasad Jaiswal, President of the Rautahat Chambers of Commerce and Industry, met with the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Rautahat Hira Lal Regmi, on Wednesday. They submitted a memorandum requesting permission to extend their business hours until 10:30 PM.

President Jaiswal said that with declining business and the extreme afternoon heat making it difficult for people to venture out, extending business hours could help boost revenue. He pointed out that current business hours limit the opportunity for customers to shop comfortably, affecting sales and revenue.

Businessmen in Rautahat also voiced their concerns during a meeting with Rautahat CDO Regmi. In their written memorandum submitted to CDO Regmi, the businessmen highlighted the financial challenges they are facing due to reduced business activities. They urged authorities to revise the existing regulations, allowing liquor shops and hotels in the Rautahat headquarters, Gaur, to operate until 10:30 PM instead of the current 8:00 PM limit.

Recognizing that most customers prefer to shop after 8:00 PM during the summer, the chamber has requested CDO Regmi to extend the operating hours to facilitate better business for the traders.

The delegation presenting the memorandum included businessmen Ritesh Agrawal, Ravi Gopali, Jitendra Sah, Amit Kesari, and others. They pointed out the success of the night market concept in Birgunj, Parsa, which has benefited both traders and consumers while also boosting revenue collection.
