Deepak Bajracharya

We are all familiar with the name Deepak Bajracharya, the one behind hit songs like ‘Kali Kali Hissi Pareki’, ‘O Amira’, and ‘Maya Ko Dorile’ but not many know that his versatile singer, lyricist, and composer was shy and quite an introvert during his school days. He thought he could never sing in front of a crowd so his musical dreams wouldn’t come true. 

ut a chance recording of an album with his band Lituluns became the starting point of his musical journey. “I never planned it. It was just something that happened and I only pursued it as a hobby but it ended up being my profession,” he says adding that initially even his parents didn’t understand his passion for music when he chose to go for a song recording instead of his exams. 
Unfortunately, Lituluns could not stick together because of financial crisis and personal problems. The members went on to pursue different paths but Deepak, by then, wanted to make a name for himself in the music industry and thus tried hard to sustain himself.  “It was a heartbreaking moment to be left alone but my love for music didn’t let me give up,” he says. After working as a solo artist for a long time, he formed a new band ‘Rhythm’ and is currently the lead vocalist and guitarist of the same band.

Even after having to face numerous problems, Deepak says that he doesn’t regret anything and wouldn’t change a thing if given a chance to rewrite his past. “Everything I have been through has shaped me into who I am today and it was all a learning experience,” he says adding that nothing can be a better teacher than experience. 

“Just like there are different seasons in a year which makes you appreciate the one you prefer more, life is supposed to give you all kinds of experiences so that you can learn to value the good things,” he explains adding that bad experiences are also necessary in life. 

Apart from music, Deepak also believes in contributing to the society. “The society we live in gives us a lot of things and we must not hesitate to do our bit,” says Deepak who has served as the social ambassador of Nepal Tourism Year 2011 and is an active member of the Nepal Cancer Relief Society. Along with that, he holds charity events for various organizations. Little known is the fact that he once donated his entire income from an album sale for a social cause. 

What keeps the star grounded and so humble is the fact that he doesn’t consider himself a star but just a music fanatic who believes in creating good tunes. He is currently working on a project to import good quality musical instruments for live performances in Nepal. The major goal of the project is to upgrade the quality of live music so that singers don’t have to compromise during their performances. 

“A musician knows more about the equipment required than commercial dealers, which is why I’m very invested in this project,” he says adding that he will keep working hard to promote Nepali artists and music.
