KATHMANDU, May 19: We all come across teachers with seemingly contrasting characters. We get really fond of some while we wish to have never met some. School can be and is tough place for people. We get exposed to things that we didn’t necessarily want or choose. We get a glimpse of the real world on our stay. The time in school or college goes by really well with some people while the others are left scarred and bruised with the experiences.

Reflecting back

KATHMANDU, May 19: When I look at myself , I no more see a scared little girl whose father had to leave the country for better future. I vividly remember the day he left although I was too young to understand anything but I could see the pain in my mother’s eyes. I had no idea that the Maoist insurgency had led him to make the hardest decision of his life. Time passed as I grew up and my mother made sure that I grew up ‘right’. She made sure that I grabbed every opportunity that knocked my door and did well in school. Not to disappoint my mother, I made sure to do well in school which would ensure my bright future but I never knew there was a storm full of ‘school drama’ waiting for me at the another side of my happy story.

Heart to Heart with Malvika

I am a 21-year-old woman and I recently finished my college but I still feel haven’t found anything that will make me want to pursue it with passion. I have tried doing many things  (sports, new subjects, job in different sectors) but none of them got me excited enough to say, ‘that’s what I want!’.  I don’t have a future goal, a goal to achieve. I am confused and lost so I seek answers from others but none of them satisfy me. It makes me frustrated that I am wasting my time being worthless. I was recently going through Miss Nepal’s website and was looking through previous year’s photos, and then I came across yours. I saw your profile where it said, “Her ambition is to be a famous media personality”. I thought to myself “she knew what she wanted to be in the future from the very beginning, she worked hard for it and she achieved too”. I really envied that and wished that I knew what I wanted to be. I wanted to ask you how did you realized your dream at such a young age. Did something trigger in you like, “yes, that’s it! That’s what I want to be” or was it something you had to build inside? How can I realize my future goal?
