KATHMANDU, Nov 30: After the talks between the government and Dr Govinda KC's team ended inconclusively Tuesday, various medical organizations have threatened to launch stringent protests from Wednesday.

Eight organizations of the doctors and medical students have urged the Nepal Medical Association (NMA) on Tuesday to ask the doctors and health workers across the country to launch strong protests from Wednesday to put pressure on the government to address the demands of Dr KC and save his life.

Dr KC's condition has become serious Tuesday, 17th day of his hunger strike. This is the longest among his 10 hunger strikes so far. His earlier longest strike was for 16 days from July 10-15 in 2016 while the shortest had lasted for four days in July 2012.

Issuing a joint statement on Tuesday, Nepal Resident Doctors Association (NRDA), Nepal Medical Students Society, Doctors Society of Nepal, Resident's Association of NAMS, National Doctors Association Nepal, Solidarity of Medical Fraternity Nepal, Junior Residents Welfare Society and Solidarity for Prof Dr GKC Alliance have asked the NMA to play a vital role to save Dr KC's life.

Meanwhile, the NRDA, which has already boycotted academic activities in the Institute of Medicine for over a week, has decided to boycott all the services except emergency at TUTH from Wednesday in support of Dr KC's demands.

A group of doctors staged a protest program in front of Bir Hospital on Tuesday in support of Dr KC.

Health Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa visited Dr KC on Tuesday morning to enquire about his condition.
