Indefinite strike in Palpa

RAMPUR, Dec 2: The youths and students have called an indefinite strike in Palpa in protest of the decision to shift the district to Province no 4. 

Joint Youth, Tarun and Student Agitation Committee, Palpa said it would not recognize the government's decision to split Province no 5 through constitution's amendment. The strike has affected schools, transportation, factories, marketplace, shops, industries and various organizations. The passengers have been stranded after short and long route vehicles remained grounded on Thursday. 

The agitators held strike till 5 pm on Thursday against the decision to shift hilly districts of Palpa, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Pyuthan, Rukum and Rolpa from Tarai. The students have called indefinite strike from today. 

The draft of the amendment proposal – which the government registered at the Parliament Secretariat on Tuesday – proposes for shifting Palpa, Gulmi, Argakhanchi, Rolpa and Rukum districts to Province no 4. RSS
