KATHMANDU, Dec 10: A 62-year-old man charged with attempted rape case has been sent to Nakkhu jail for further investigations.

Lalitpur District Court remanded Diwakar Shrestha of Lalitpur Sub Metropolitan City-17 in custody for further investigation after complaints of attempted rape charge, according to DSP Iswar Karki, spokesperson of Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur.

The Police Range had arrested Shrestha, an accountant of a school based in Kanibahal, following complaints filed by the parents of the victim girls of the school.

According to police, Shrestha was accused of abusing school girls time and again under the pretext of adjusting tie, setting up dresses, maintaining identity cards among others. However, the victims were mum over the issue due to social stigma and fear since a long time.

The police started investigation into the case after two complaints formally registered and eight verbally at the range.

Shrestha had been working as an accountant at the school since its establishment.
