11 injured in Tanahun jeep fall

DAMAULI, Oct 17:  A many as 11 people were injured after a jeep, Na 2 Cha 9488, fell some 60 meters down the rough road at Mohariya in Basantpur VDC-3 of Tanahun district on Sunday night.

The condition of seven people among those injured is said to be critical.

The accident took place when the jeep was heading for Tanahunsur from Dumre.  Those critically injured are Tej Bahadur Tamang, 35, Kalpana Majakoti, 26, Namina Ramtel, 25, Shanti Devi Shrestha, 50 and Parwati Lamsal, 41  of Basantapur VDC-1, DSP Surendra Bahadur Gurung, spokesperson of District Police Office, Tanahun told Republica Online.

Those critically injured are undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital in Pokhara while others are receiving treatment at Gorkha Polyclinic.
The identity of the driver, who sustained injures, is yet to be ascertained.

The victims had been rescued by the police deployed from Area Police Office, Dumre and District Police Office, Tanahun. The reason behind the jeep fall is yet  to be investigated.
