Police nab notorious thug involved in over a dozen robberies

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: The Metropolitan Crime Division (MCD), Teku, has arrested a notorious thug involved in over a dozen incidents of robbery.

A special squad from the MCD arrested Tika Thapa Magar, 29, alias Sagar of Doramba VDC-8, Ramechhap, with Rs 300,000 in cash from Kageshwari, Manahara Municipality-9.

According to SSP Sarbendra Khanal, Chief of the MCD, Thapa, who was arrested on Tuesday from Kageswari Manahara Municipality-9, has been sent to Metropolitan Police Circle, Thimi for further investigation.

After he was arrested and interrogated in the custody, it was revealed that he was involved in a dozen robberies in the past. According to a press note issued by the MCD today, Thapa robbed Sushmita Subedi of Rs 73,669 while she was returning home after withdrawing the cash from East International Money Transfer based in Katunje-2, Bhaktapur on November 20,.

Likewise, Thapa robbed Yamkala Bhadari of Rs 360,000 on December 4.

On September 30, Thapa looted Rs 93,000 from Maya Devi Uprety while she was walking alone in front of the Radhe Radhe Temple, Bhaktapur.

Similarly, on September 21, Tapa robbed a man of Rs 3.7 million while he was going to deposit the cash in the Country Development Bank in Banepa Municipality, Kavre.

Likewise, on May 14, Thapa had stolen one Ram Thapa’s motorcycle with the registration number Ba 4 Pa 3632.

Police investigation shows that Thapa stealthily followed his targets and robbed them at an isolated place, SSP Khanal told Republica Online.
