KATHMANDU, Jan 12: Two separate delegations of Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) left for the US and Norway on Wednesday to participate in Washington DC Travel & Adventure Show 2017 and the Norwegian Travel Fair 2017, respectively.

TAAN President Chandra Prasad Rijal is leading the delegation to Reiselivsmessen Oslo 2017, which is also known as Norwegian Travel Show, to be held in Norway from January 13 and 15. Other companies participating in the show are Himalayan Guides Treks & Expeditions, Himalayan Research Expedition and Sherpa Society Trekking.

Nepal Tourism Board's Board Director Purna Kunwar and Officer Kundan Sharma are also in the delegation.

Rijal said that the delegation will disseminate message in the European market that tourism in Nepal has bounced back after the earthquakes of 2015. "We will promote Nepali adventure tourism products and services in the European market," he added.

Similarly, Treasurer Lila Baldab Dahal is leading TAAN's delegation to Washington DC Travel & Adventure Show 2017. The show will be held at Washington Convention Center on January 14 and 15. Himalayan Planet Adventures is the other company in the delegation.

Dahal said that he will meet leading tour operators participating in the show and apprise them of the present situation in Nepal. "My main focus will be on disseminating the message in the US travel market that Nepal, after the earthquakes of 2015, has been receiving tourists as usual," he added.

TAAN has been participating in Travel & Adventure Show on a regular basis since 2012, while it is participating in Reiselivsmessen Oslo for the first time.
