Australian artist Grief donates clothes worth Rs 2 m to quake victims

KATHMANDU,, Jan 17: An Australian artist Fedrich Grief has donated foods and clothes worth around Rs 2 million to the earthquake victims of April 25, 2015. 

The donation amount was collected through various cultural programs he organized in Australia and released to the quake victims through the Frizzey Light Verein Organization based in Nepal. 

Organizing a press conference here on Tuesday, Grief said he was hopeful that the financial contribution would be helpful to the quake victims. 

Quake victims of Sindhupalchok, Kavrepalanchok, Okhaldhunga, Ramechhap and Dolakha have been distributed foods and clothes. In Solukhumbhu, Grief distributed foods and clothes to quake survivors going around village to village on foot for a week with the help of 18 local Sherpas. 

"I am an artist. I have a plan to spend some of my earnings from my profession for impoverished people around the world. I heard about the earthquake in Nepal that left many helpless. So, I have come here to help the needy," said Grief. He also pledged to donate Rs 4 million worth of essentials in Nepal in 2017. 

The Verein Organisation is planning to distribute sleeping bags and jackets to 150 households in Solukhumbhu from Wednesday while a newly constructed building for quake affected Panchakanya Primary School at Mankha of Sindhupalchok will be handed over on January 28. RSS
