Lord Mayor of the City of London arrives

KATHMANDU, Jan 22: The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Dr Andrew Parmley has arrived here Saturday on a four-day official visit to Nepal expected to take the Nepal-Britain relations to a new height. 

He was received by British Ambassador to Nepal Richard Morris and the Deputy Chief of Protocol Tej Bahadur Chhetri at the VIP lounge of the Tribhuvan International Airport. 

Dr Parmley who holds minister rank is considered a key person in the conduction of international relations and economic diplomacy in Britain. 

Even the developed countries of the world are eager to invite him for a visit. Dr Parmley is a high diplomat and an independent personality without party affiliation. 

The visit by the Lord Mayor of the City of London in the context of the completion of a bicentenary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Britain will further contribute towards enhancing mutual cordiality between the two countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated. 

The Lord Mayor is scheduled to call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', according to the Ministry. While in Nepal, he will also separately meet with Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Minister for Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat, Minister for Energy Janardan Sharma and Minister for Industries Nabindra Raj Joshi. 

He is also scheduled to meet the Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board Nepal and the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank. 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Lord Mayor of the City of London will also observe some of the development projects operated with the cooperation of the British government and the post-earthquake reconstruction program. 

Decorated with the title 'Rt Hon', Dr Parmley is the 869th Lord Mayor of the City of London. RSS
