RAMECHHAP, Jan 24: In a formal program organized in Ramechhap district, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Pashupati Upadhyay, who had reached the district to get updates on the district's peace and security aspects, openly praised the works and achievements of a lower ranked police officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kumod Dhungel of the District Police Office (DPO), Ramechhap.

“DSP Dhungel's leadership has been very successful as locals of the district are able to feel a sense of peace and security a bit more amid difficult times,” said DIG Upadhyay.

“He has a big role in controlling and minimizing crime, and has also made commendable headway in investigation of serious crimes,” he added.

Chief District Officer (CDO), along with representatives of major political parties, media persons, civil society members, and entrepreneurs among others were present in the interaction program where they held discussions regarding  the district's peace and security. The program was organized by the District Administration Office (DAO), Ramechhap.

“Although maintaining peace and security is not a new task for police, DSP Dhungel's leadership in the field has been highly successful. That is why the whole DPO has a huge respect for him,” said DIG Upadhyay.

In a recent incident of Majuwa-1 of the district, when a Tata Sumo jeep was burnt and the driver killed in cold-blood, the team lead by the DPO's chief DSP Dhungel was able to successfully identify the culprit. The incident, which took place due to personal vengeance, had posed a great challenge for the DPO, and the gruesome news also shook the nation.

But to the relief of many, two persons involved in the incident have already been arrested while two main brains behind the incident have been identified as well but they are at large.

“DSP Dhungel has added one more feather in the hat of Nepal Police due to his success in a short span of two months after taking the leadership of the DPO. This has made me come to Ramechhap personally, putting aside all of my important works to thank and praise him,” added DIG Upadhyay.

He also reassured that the two culprits involved in the incident, who are at large, will soon be arrested.

“It is just a matter of time. Sooner or later, they will eventually be arrested,” he said.

Participants in the interaction stressed the need to indentify and arrest more criminals who have committed crimes in the district. They said upgrading police posts is a must in order to increase its capacity.

“It is only recently that locals of the district have finally felt safer after the decade long conflict,” said Labashree Neupane, district president of Nepali Congress, urging continuation of proper security.
