BHOJPUR, Jan 24: The locals in Bhojpur district have installed CCTV cameras at various locations in violation of the CCTV camera installation guideline.

The Home Ministry has formulated a security policy that requires permission of the concerned district administration office to set up CCTV cameras.

The CCTV Camera Installation and Operation Working Procedure – 2072 was introduced to boost the use of electronic gadgets, and encourage the use of CCTV camera and its management for controlling crime and maintaining social security.

The people seeking to install CCTV cameras must mandatorily apply for permission with the concerned district administration office by mentioning the name of the camera's company, storage capacity, storage period, location, number, reason and the name of the individual or organization monitoring the CCTV cameras.

The District Administration Office (DAO) Information Official, Rajan Pandey, said no one had sought permission and the office had not issued any sort of permission.

The authorities assume that hundreds of CCTV cameras have been installed at financial institutes, boarding schools and for private use at various grocery shops and shopping outlets in Bhojpur alone. RSS
