KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Revenue Secretary Rajan Khanal has said that Chinese banks should open their branch offices in Nepal to boost trade relations between Nepal and China.

"Bilateral trade will not increase unless China allows its banks to open their offices in Nepal or permits Nepali banks to set up its branch in the northern neighbor," Khanal said addressing a function organized in Kathmandu on Tuesday by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) to mark the 65th International Chamber Day.

Khanal also said that customs offices will soon adopt online system. "Only the online system can keep the exact data of exports and imports," he added.

Likewise, Shishir Kumar Dhugana, director general of the Department of Customs, said as the trade deficit was increasing with every passing year, the country should revise cash incentives that it has been providing to the exporters.

At the program, Nepal Chamber of Commerce honored Kulraj Adhikari, director of Department of Customs, with the Best Customs Officer Award.
