NRA authorizes release of Rs 12 billion for quake survivors

KATHMANDU, Jan 26: The National Re-construction Authority (NRA) has Thursday given authority to concerned agencies to release around Rs 12 billion to hand out second installment of the relief grant to the quake-survivors in 14 worst hit districts for the reconstruction of their quake-damaged houses. 

The authority has been given to the Central Project Implementation Unit and Quake-resilient Building Re-construction Project under the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development Ministry for the same, according to NRA's CEO Prof Dr Govindaraj Pokharel. 

Although the NRA was to provide Rs 200,000 to each quake-hit households to help rebuild their houses, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal increased the relief grant amount to Rs 300,000. 

The meeting of the NRA held on Wednesday decided to this effect, shared CEO Pokharel. 
The second trench of support amounts to Rs 150,000. There are a total of 626,036 authenticated beneficiaries. RSS
