Boxers leaving for Russia today

KATHMANDU, July 4: Boxer duo Kushum Lama and Bishal Shrestha along with coach Nima Tamang are set to leave for Russia on Monday to take part in the Sixth Children of Asia International Sports Games to be held in Yakutsk city from July 5 to 17.

Kushum will vie in girls' 51kg event, while Bishal will fight in boys' 64kg event. Among the 33 teams participating in the tournament, only Nepal, India and the Maldives are taking part from the South Asia.

Meanwhile, organizing a program in Kathmandu on Sunday, Nepal Boxing Association President Ram Awale along with other officials bade farewell to the players and coach.

After the program, team coach Tamang said that the event will be beneficial for both the players as well as Nepali boxing. “The event will provide exposures to the players and the experience could be beneficial for future prospective,” said Tamang.
