RAJBIRAJ, Feb 1: The body of a migrant worker from Saptari in Nepal is yet to arrive back home two months after his death in Saudi Arabia.

Two months have gone by since Bahadur Mandal of Toppa area of Wabhangamakatti VDC – 3 of Saptari died, but the delay in the arrival of his body has further aggravated the sorrow of his family members.

Mandal went to Saudi Arabia to earn money that could turn the thatched roof of his house into a concrete ceiling and pay for his son and daughters' education assuring them a bright future. He was admitted to a hospital at the destination country two months ago after a stomach ailment, and he died shortly afterwards. He had gone to Saudi Arabia through a manpower company based in Kathmandu.

Mandal's wife Bimaladevi shared her financial problems to look after her two daughters and a son after the death of their only breadwinner.

She had informed the concerned authority following the death of her husband, but still the body has not arrived back home. Mandal's relatives are also putting on hold mourning rituals, said Chandan Yadav, Programme Officer of Sabal Nepal, an NGO working for migrant workers.

The migrant worker's kin have called on the concerned authority and Nepal Government to help bring back the body back to Nepal. RSS
