Army into Tilottama semis

BUTWAL, Feb 28: The semifinal line-up of the ongoing 19th Tilottama Gold Cup Football Tournament has been completed on Tuesday after Tribhuvan Army Club became the latest team to book its place in the last four defeating Nepal Police Club 3-1. 

Army will now take on host Rupandehi XI in the semifinal on Thursday while the first semifinal will be played between Himalayan Sherpa Club and CMG Club Sankata a day earlier.

In the match played at ANFA Technical Center, Butwal, Bibek Basnet, Rajiv Gurung and Deep Lama scored one goal each for Army while Nir Kumar Rai replied for Police. 

Army started piling up pressure on Budhasubba Gold Cup winner Police from the early moments of the match and scored two first-half goals. Bibek Basnet struck the opening goal for Amy in the 20th minute while Rajiv Gurung extended the lead by 2-0 in the 38th minute. Nir Kumar Rai scored in the 78th minute for Police to keep its hope alive in the game.

However, five minutes, later Deep Lama added the third goal for Army effectively ending the chances of Police with a 3-1 victory. Army's Bibek Basnet was declared man-of-the-match.
