APF crowned PM Cup Women's cricket champion

ITAHARI, March 8: Armed Police Force (APF) on Wednesday claimed the title of the Prime Minister Cup Women's National T20 Cricket Tournament in Itahari. 

In the final match played at Nepal DVM Global Academy School ground, APF registered a convincing eight-wicket win over Far-western Region. APF bagged a purse of Rs 100,000 along with the winners' trophy while the runner-up Far-western received Rs 50,000.     

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Far-western managed a meager total of 57 runs for the loss of seven wickets at close. No batswomen of Far-western other than Samjhana Khadka contributed in double digit figures. She managed to score 16 runs. 

Ritu Kanaujiya of APF was the pick of APF bowling as she claimed three wickets. Sita Rana Magar bagged one.  APF achieved the target in 14.1 overs for the loss of two wickets. Sarita Magar contributed 22 runs for APF while Sita Rana Magar scored 16 runs. Rekha Rawal of Far-western claimed one wicket. 

Ritu Kanaujiya of APF was declared the player-of-the-final and the best player of the tournament. She received Rs 5,000 along with trophy. Rekha Rawal of Far-western was declared the best batswoman and received Rs 5000 for her feat. 

National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista, Eastern Regional Sports Development Committee Member Ganesh Budhathoki and Itahari Civil Society President Kamalesh Paudel among others distributed prizes to the winners. 

The six-day event featured six teams in total including five regional and a departmental team, winner APF.
