MALEKHU, March 18: With the rise in the demand for meat products in the market, locals of Chainpur have now advanced the concept of goat source centre.

Lal Maya Shakya is one of the new budding entrepreneurs to enter the business. She had started with two goats and six kids two years ago and now can boast of 29 goats in her enclosure.

Similarly, Man Kumari Bann of Hulakbhanjyang has 11 goats under her belt. She has built a modern enclosure and is doing swift business.

The Chainpur VDC had 5,200 goats at the beginning of this new business strategy but now has 14,000 goats, data reveals.

Chainpur Social Entrepreneur Women Cooperative's Manager, Nir Maya Rana Maski, said Chainpur VDC is now being developed as a goat source centre.

The Cooperative with 1217 shareholders plans to develop the village into a goat source centre and generate income for women. It will be building goat enclosures in all the households of the village and create an opportunity for breeding goat. At least 700 households have already built enclosures and started the business.
