KATHMANDU, March 19: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has directed the authorities concerned to expedite the formulation of all federal laws demanded by the constitution.

During his meeting with government secretaries at his office Sunday, Prime Minister Dahal instructed the secretaries to set criteria without any discrimination to depute employees at the local-level on the backdrop of the preparations going on for the local poll. He warned of punishment in the case of any employee refusing to go to assigned station.
Urging secretaries not to be lenient regarding the implementation of federalism issues, he informed the meeting that 38 Acts had been formulated since the promulgation of the constitution while four Acts were in the wait for an authentication, while drafts of five Acts already endorsed by the Legislature-Parliament and 39 bills under consideration in different parliamentary committees.
Minister for Law, Justice and Federal Affairs Ajay Shankar Nayak and Chief Secretary Dr Somlal Subedi were also present in the meeting, according to Press Advisor to the Prime Minister Govinda Acharya.
Stating that all laws required for holding the local level election had already been formulated, he insisted on giving priority to the formulation of federalism-related laws.
Nobody else was supposed to be treated specially while deputing human resources required for holding the local poll, he said, pledging to strongly discourage the trend of undue political influence while sending human resources to the local level in view of the coming local poll scheduled for May 14 this year.
