PM consults experts ahead of China visit

KATHMANDU, March 23: Former ambassadors and foreign affairs experts suggested Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to focus on implementing the agreements and treaty signed with China in the past rather than focusing on signing new ones.

The PM held a consultation meeting with the former ambassadors and foreign affairs experts on Thursday morning, just ahead of his China visit, scheduled to begin on Thursday evening.

During the meeting PM Dahal said that there is no possibility of signing new agreements or treaty with China during his visit because of some technical reasons. According to Nepal's former ambassador to China, Tanka Karki, PM Dahal informed experts that his visit is just a goodwill visit to the neighboring countries focusing on the Boao Forum. However, PM expressed a hope that his visit would take Nepal-China relation to a new height.

Following the PM's briefing, the experts suggested him to focus on implementation of the agreements and treaties signed in the past.

PM Dahal is scheduled to fly off to China on Thursday for a week long visit and have a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping for at least 15 minutes during the visit. PM Dahal is scheduled to return home on March 29.
