DADHING, March 23:  Chepang people have been badly hit by an acute shortage of water in the district.

With the onset of spring season, the problem has become more severe. Of the total five stone spouts in Syamedanda of Gajuri Municipality-6, four have gone dry.

The water sources went dry following the mega earthquake that devastated Nepal on April 25, 2015.

The locals of Syamedanda have knocked the door of the District Coordination Committee Dhading and Drinking Water and Sanitation Division Office asking for drinking water.

According to Bimala, a local, they have to walk down a hilly trail and queue up since early morning for a pot of drinking water.

It has also affected the school going children as their parents have to spend the whole morning for a pot of water.

There are 155 households in Shyamedanda village in which 410 are women and 392 men.

Already hit by the shortage of food, Chepang people now are suffering from the drinking water crunch, too.
