German Minister in Nepal for four-day official visit

Kathmandu, April 3: Dr. Barbara Hendricks, German Federal Minister for Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety is presently in the capital in connection to a four-day official visit. She landed here on Sunday night. 

The objective of the visit is to further strengthen long-standing bilateral friendship and cooperation between Nepal and Germany, and to get first-hand information on the progress made in environment and forest related development projects supported by the government of Germany in Nepal, the German Embassy here said today. 

During the visit, Minister Hendricks will hold joint bilateral dialogues respectively with Nepal’s Minister for Environment Jayadev Joshi and Minister for Forests and Soil Conservation Shankar Bhandari. 
She will travel to Lalitpur district in order to observe management and operation of Godavari Knowledge Park, a bio-diversity conservation project of ICIMOD - International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development. 

Minister Hendricks will visit Kalchebesi Resilient Mountain Village in Patlekhet VDC of of Kavre District. The Kalchebesi project highlights how Nepalese communities could tackle the challenges of climate change, developing skills of local people for adaptation on the one hand, while on the other, putting additional efforts into forest restoration, forest management and nature conservation.
