KATHMANDU, April 9: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba alleged the main opposition CPN-UML of trying to disintegrate the country by annoying Madhesi people.

Speaking in a mass meeting organized as a part of party's election campaign in Attariya, Kailali, Deuba said that some forces are active in spreading hatred among people.

"There is a plot going on to disintegrate people. They are trying to divide the country into Madhesi, Tharu or people from hills by spreading hatred," said Deuba.

"By irritating Madhes, we cannot strengthen national integrity. We can strengthen it by uniting people from mountains, hills and Madhes," he added.

Hinting at UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Deuba said that the country could not be run only through speeches full of proverbs. He also claimed that the victory of Nepali Congress will only ensure the development of the country.

The NC has begun its election campaign on Sunday from Kailali and it is scheduled to end in Jhapa on April 18. The local level election is scheduled for May 14.
