CPN-UML recommends nominees for mayoral posts in Chitwan

CHITWAN, April 24: The District Committee of CPN-UML, Chitwan, has recommended the names of its candidates for the major posts in all five municipalities of the district to the party's higher rung.

After selecting the candidates, the district committee forwarded the names to the Province Committee for the final endorsement. The committee has announced the names of the party's candidates for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor for the municipalities and chairperson and vice-chairperson for the rural municipalities in the district.

According to Tejendra Khadka, district vice-chairperson of CPN-UML, altogether four names have been recommended for the post of mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City. The district committee has forwarded the names of Kehav Lal shrestha, Devi Gyawali, Bijay Subedi and Uma Karki for the post of mayor of Bharatpur. Similarly, Chakra Ruchal, Bidhya Sharma and Kalpana Sapkota have been recommended for the post of deputy mayor.

 According to Parbati Rawal, district secretary of UML, former representative Lalmani Chaudhary has been recommended for the post of mayor of Khairahani Municipality. Chaudhary was elected from Chitwan Constituency No.1 in the election to the first Constituent Assembly. 

Similarly, in Rapti Municipality, Prabha Baral has been recommended for the post of mayor and Iman Singh for deputy mayor. Likewise, Khom Narayan Shrestha has been recommended as the candidate for mayor and Kamal Bhattarai as the candidate for deputy mayor in Kalika Municipality. The committee has recommended the name of Naradmani Poudel for the post of mayor and Tara Mahato for deputy mayor in Madi Municipality.

CPN-UML has forwarded the name of Narayan Adhikari as the party's candidate for the post of chairperson and Juna Rajbhandari for vice chairperson of Ichhakama Rural Municipality.

There are altogether 98 wards in the seven local units of the district.
