DADELDHURA, April 25: The government decision to revise the schedule of the local-level election has left the people of Dadheldhura under the province number 7 disappointed.

The people of Dadeldhura , a far-western district , were eagerly waiting for the arrival of May 14 , the date earlier announced for holding the local –level election nationwide, to take part in the local election to be held after 19 years.

But as per the revised schedule, the election in four provinces including the number 7 has been put off by one month and rescheduled for June 14. With this, the Dadeldhura people could not be certain that the election would be held on the new planned date.

A group of people who returned home taking a break from their works in India just to participate in the election are left in confusion with the revision of the election schedule. They are worried whether they would be deprived of choosing their representatives at the local-level, despite a long wait in this regard.

"I arrived home taking a leave from work just for the election," said Deepak Tamang of Amargadhi Municipality-8, a migrant worker in India. He shared that he was anxious with the postponement of the election date in his province.

The postponement of the poll date has had its impact on election –related activities as well which have relatively gone down in the rural areas in the aftermath of the announcement of new date for the election.

Dattisingh Bhandari, who aspires to content for the post of a ward member from the Municipality, said he, at this backdrop, is undecided whether to intensify the election campaign.

With the revision of the election date, political parties have halted the process of selecting election candidates. RSS
