PM not to resign, to face no-confidence motion

KATHMANDU, July 12: Although the CPN (Maoist Center), a major ruling partner, has decided to withdraw its support to the KP Sharma Oli-led government, the PM will not resign.

Talking to Republica Online, Prime Minister's Press Advisor, Pramod Dahal said that the Prime Minister will not step down, but would rather face a no-confidence motion in  parliament.

Saying that the parliament had elected the PM, Dahal said that the House will make a final call on the issue.

“The government has done good works,” he said, “The Prime Minister will face the motion on the grounds of such works.”

Meanwhile, CPN-UML has called a Standing Committee meeting of the party at 6 pm today to arrive at an official opinion on the latest political developments.

Talking to Republica Online, UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai said that the CPN (Maoist Center) had committed a historical mistake by withdrawing its support to the government..

“The party has made a historical mistake,” said Bhattarai, “We request the CPN (Maoist Center) to rectify it.”
