KANCHANPUR, April 30: A massive fire that started three days ago in Kanchanpur district continues to take toll on the Chure area.

The forests resources, including timbers and trees have been destroyed by the fire that is breaking out at the area spanning three kilo metres, stretching from Belgada area to Lakhane in the district, according to the Baijanath Community Forest's Chairperson Bahadur Singh Mahara.

Although the forest fire in certain area was doused with the community forest's caretakers, the fire is yet to put out completely due to the windstorms.

The stones from the sloppy areas are also falling down, causing difficulty in containing the fire, said Mahara.

The wild animals in the forest are beginning to enter the human settlement following the fire, posing risk to both humans and themselves as the chances are that poachers could be on the prowl, added Salleri Community Forest Chair Mohan Aiyer. RSS
