US leader Pelosi leading bipartisan Congressional delegation to Nepal

KATHMANDU, May 6: US House of Representatives’ democratic leader Nancy Pelosi is arriving in Nepal, leading a bipartisan Congressional delegation.

According to a press statement issued by the US embassy in Kathmandu on Friday, the delegation is arriving in Nepal as a part of its visit to four different nations including India, Germany and Belgium, focusing on national security, global economy, bilateral and multilateral relations, and human rights.

“Our bipartisan delegation travels at a vital time in the US relationship with India, Nepal and our NATO partners,” the statement quoted leader Pelosi as saying. “Our delegation looks forward to meetings on how we can strengthen our economic and security relationships, as well as addressing challenges ranging from regional Russian aggression to global human rights.”

The delegation includes Jim Sensenbrenner (Foreign Affairs Committee and Judiciary Committee), Eliot Engel (ranking member of Foreign Affairs Committee; Energy and Commerce Committee) Tom Lantos (co-chair of Human Rights Commission; Agriculture Committee, Rules Committee), Betty McCollum (Appropriations Committee), Judy Chu (Ways and Means Committee; Small Business Committee), Joyce Beatty (Financial Services Committee) and Pramila Jayapal (vice ranking member, Budget Committee and Judiciary Committee).

hospitals for heart, cancer, maternity, respiratory, and more will be established as per the provisions of the new rule, said Paudel. “The government will develop necessary guidelines and directives for minimum requirement and services to be provided by the hospitals,” he added.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are over 4,100 government health institutions including 110 hospitals, 203 primary health centers and 3,789 health posts across the country with a population of 28.7 million. The private sector has 154 hospitals including private medical colleges with 7,394 beds across the country, according to the Association of Private Health Institution of Nepal.
