KATHMANDU, May 18: A Cabinet meeting held on Thursday approved three health services policies.

According to the Ministry of Health (MoH), the Cabinet endorsed the National Eye Health Policy-2017, National Ayurveda and Complementary Medicine Policy-2017, and a concept paper to amend the reproductive health bill and integrate it with different rules.

“As per the eye health policy, eye health services will be kept under the universal health coverage system by providing basic services free of cost,” said Jeevan Bhandari, press advisor to Health Minister Gagan Thapa. “All the health institutions will be integrated for eye treatment from local level to central,” he said.

Similarly, the National Ayurveda and Complementary Medicine Policy envisions basic Ayurveda and complementary medical services free of cost, investigative and qualitative research on the Ayurvedic treatment system, utilization of available herbs in the country, and securing their patent rights, according to Bhandari.
