Engineer arrested with Rs 250,000 bribe

NEPALGUNJ, July 15: An engineer has been arrested with Rs 250,000 in bribe in Banke.

Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Kohalpur chapter arrested Engineer Birendra Yadav, who is currently working at the Seed Crops Research Center, Khajura, Banke.

Engineer Yadav had demanded Rs 3, 00,000 in bribe while the contractor of the recently constructed two deep borings at the research center asked for the due payment before the negotiation was settled at Rs 2, 50,000.

The CIAA had been keeping a close tab on Engineer Yadav after a complaint was registered against him.

An investigation on Yadav has been initiated following his arrest, said CIAA official Dipak Thapa.
