Grade XI exams to begin from June 15

KATHMANDU, May 30: Following the government decision to hold second phase of local polls on June 28, the Ministry of Education (MoE) has rescheduled the exams of Grade XI, which was frequently postponed. The exams of Grade XI will be held from June 15 to 24 this year.

According to the National Examinations Board (NEB), the exams of Grade XI will begin from June 15 and run for 10 days. “We have decided to conduct the exams from June 15 to 24,” said Dr Hari Prasad Lamsal, spokesperson for the MoE. “The NEB will publish its exams schedule,” he added.

There are 449,000 students studying in Grade XI across the country. At a time when the classes of Grade 12 should have begun after the examinations, the students are yet to take the exams of Grade XI due to the ongoing local level elections in the country.

According to the academic calendar of the NEB, the exams of Grade XI were scheduled to begin on May 7. It was deferred to June 15 following the local elections scheduled for May 14. 

When the government decided to hold elections in two phases—second on June 14, the NEB rescheduled the exam routine beginning on June 22. Now the government again has shifted second phase of polls from June 23 to June 28.
