Shreya explores Nepal in her new music video

KATHMANDU: After two years, Shreya Sotang released a music video from her second album ‘Prelude’ on May 24. Titled ‘Maya Ho Ki Haina’ Sotang is featured in the video with Bigyan Udas, where Sotang plays a girl in love fantasizing about her man. The video has garnered over one lakh views since its release.

Answering the question, why she took such a long gap in-between releases, she said, “I think when an album is released. Some songs go unnoticed. I wanted all my songs to have adequate exposure in the media so that people can enjoy them like I do.”

Director Pasang Yonzon Lama has shot the video in different locations in Nepal, which Sotang believes will promote Nepali tourism. “During the course of the shoot, I got the chance to experienced rafting and horse riding. It was quite interesting because I had never done any of that before,” she shared. The lyrics were written by Pratima Shrestha and the song is composed by Kalyan Singh.

This is the third music video Sotang has released for the album. First was ‘Chori Ko Rupai Ramro’ which was released four years ago and second was ‘Ali Ail’ which she released two years after that. She is currently working on a fourth music video of the same album which she plans to release in October and another by the end of this Nepali year. Apart from her own music video, Sotang has also recently sung the title track of ‘Prem Geet 2’ with Rohit John Chhetri. “Singing for your own album, you can experiment but, singing for movies entails that you have to think about the lyrics, the situation where the songs pops in and sing according to the music/movie director’s vision.”
