Rising Junkiri’s platform for young writers

Rising Junkiri’s platform for young writers

Rising Junkiri (RJ), a platform for young writers, had organized a meet-up for bloggers and writers at Genesis Cafe on Saturday.

Around 20  writing enthusiasts participated in the event where they got a platform to share their writings and their preference about reading.

Moreover, they got to listen to each other’s writing style. In the event, the organizers gave them  20 minutes to write an impromptu poem wheresome participants shared their raw writing while others shared what they had written earlier.

Given that writing has not been well-promoted in our country, RJ said they had organized the event to reach out to aspiring writers. During a section, in the event, people even shared their confessions on how they perceived the status of writing in the country and how they can promote their writing.

“We lack communities where one can explore their writing. And there is a bigger problem; the original writings are plagiarized and unrightfully used.

We need more white hat writers (ethical) than black hat ones (unethical),” opined Satya Prakash Joshi, a participant.

Shreya Pokharel, other participant, shared that the writers and the profession itself is not appreciated enough and those who write are paid less.

Another participant, Pratik Aryal added, “We lack creative writers in business. People who actually want to write lack the platform where they can showcase their writing skills.”
Speaking about herself, Anushruti Adhikari, one of the organizers, expressed, “It is a sad truth that I can’t express well in Nepali medium though I am Nepali. And I’m sure there are a lot of people like me out there.”

Organizers of the event said it was one of the many events that are yet to come and they intend to promote young writers even more and be confident about sharing them.
