CNI delegation meets Finance Minister

KATHMANDU, June 23: Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has urged the government to create enabling environment for business and investment.

In a meeting with newly appointed Minister for Finance Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, a delegation led by CNI President Haribhakta Sharma urged the government to devise policies and programs that encourage the private sector to make more investment.

Issuing a statement on Friday, the CNI said that it also expressed its happiness over the economic outlook of the country and positive macroeconomic indicators.

On the occasion, CNI President Sharma put forth the list of demands with the government.In its demand, CNI has demanded that the government set aside at least 100 percent of GDP for infrastructure development, and study the impact of general sale tax that the Indian government is imposing from July 1 on import of raw materials.

Similarly, CNI has demanded with the government to put in place a monitoring system for realization of investment commitment made by foreign investors during the recently held Nepal Investment Summit.
