MAHENDRANAGAR, June 24: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal(RJPN) will partake in the third-phase local level elections though the constitution is not amended.

Talking at a program organized by Mahendranagar chapter of Nepal Press Union in Mahendranagar on Saturday morning, Deuba informed that after the  second-phase local polls, an effort will be made to amend the constitution with a view to bringing the Madhes-centric parties on board the election. He added that even if this effort proves to be abortive for reason of lack of two-third majority, RJPN will participate in the local level elections due to be held in Province 2.

Deuba is in Mahendranagar in course of election campaign aimed at convincing voters to vote for the candidates representing  Nepali Congress.

“After second-phase local level elections, an effort will be made to amend the constitution. The constitution has not been amended yet due to lack of two-third majority. The government and my party will reach out to CPN-UML to ensure the amendment of the constitution after the June-28 local level elections”, said Deuba.

To justify the need for amending the constitution, Deuba said, “Once the constitution is amended, the grievances of Madhesi and aboriginal people will be addressed forever”.

He is scheduled to go to his home city via Jogbuda, Belauri today.
