GORKHA, June 26: With the advancement of social media technology, it has been easier to carry out social activities. It has not only united people but also brought them together for social work.

The fund collected for rebuilding of Ramche Primary School in Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality-8 is an example how the social media plays a significant role in generating fund for social activities.

The fund amounting to Rs 300,000 has been raised through the social media including Facebook and Twitter that have networked people around the globe.

Facebook user and social campaigner Prakash Babu Thapa has raised this fund for rebuilding the school by posting a dilapidated school building.

“The building has not been rebuilt even for two years of the mega earthquake that struck Nepal. I launched a Facebook campaign to raise this fund to rebuild school building in a bid to help school children in the rote rural municipality. Facebook friends in Nepal and abroad helped generate the fund of Rs 300,000,” said  Thapa.

Thapa has handed over the collected fund to the school in the presence of newly elected ward chair Kashi Nath Amgain and headmaster of the school and chairman of the school management committee.

People from Nepal and abroad including America, Japan, Korea and Canada have donated to the fund for the construction of the building.

The fund was also collected through the charity show of a Nepali film called ‘Love You Babu’ directed by Saurav Bista, campaigner Thapa, who is also the lyricist, told Republica Online.
