Retd. Major Gen. and ex-Maoist Center lawmaker Fudong attacked

ITAHARI, June 27: An irate group has vandalized the house of retired Major General and former UCPN (Maoist Center) lawmaker Kumar Fudong in Itahari Sub Metropolitan City on Tuesday afternoon.

 Sujata Shahi Thakuri, 24, originally from Daskilo, Gorkha, had been found dead in a fish pond in the garden of Fudong’s house.

The locals attacked Fudong alleging him that he did not provide satisfactory answer when asked about Sujata’s death. The locals flocked to Itahari to know about the cause of Sujata’s death.

The locals staged demonstration demanding action against Fudong this afternoon. The irate demonstrators hurled stones at the Fudong's  house. Fudong has received a deep cut to his head in the attack.

He has been undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.

“Police are carrying out investigation into the incident of death”. 

Fudong’s house is at Itahari Sub-metropolitan City-4.   There is a garden stretching along the wide area of land where a resort used to be run few years back. 

Sujata and her husband Ranjit Rana Magar were staffers at the resort then.

Sujata and Ranjit had an inter-caste marriage. After Sujata became pregnant, she left the job and went to Kathmandu. She did not go to Ranit’s house for the fear that his parents would not accept her.

Sujata and  Ranjit were not living together since last eight months.

Sujata had come to Fudong’s house in Itahari on Monday morning at 8:30 am. She was found dead at 10 am.
