KATHMANDU, July 19: The Association of Private Medical and Dental Colleges of Nepal has said that the demands raised by Dr Govinda KC were an effort to discourage private sector investment in the health sector.

Speaking at a press conference held here Tuesday, Association Chair Dr Bhola Rijal said the Dr KC's hunger strike this time was designed to 'finish off' medical education in the country.


"Dr KC is in fact encouraging students to go abroad for medical education by spreading rumors in the name of reforms", he said.

Dr Rijal also claimed that the private sector had been providing scholarship to 300 talented and poor students every year. Hence, cutting down the seats for students in private colleges is to bring down the number of scholarships.

The Association has also warned of taking to the streets if a decision was taken to cut down the number of student seats in the private medical colleges. RSS
