UML victorious in Butwal Sub-Metropolis

BUTWAL, July 5: CPN-UML has won both mayoral and deputy-mayoral post of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City.

Shiva Prasad Subedi of CPN-UML has been elected as the mayor securing 23249 votes. His immediate rival was Khel Raj Pandey of Nepali Congress, who secured 20851 votes.

Likewise, Goma Acharya of CPN-UML has been elected as the deputy mayor with 25301 votes. Her immediate rival Jagat Bahadur Pokhrel of CPN (Maoist-Center) has been defeated with more than 10 thousand vote margin. Pokharel garnered 14792 votes.

The ruling coalition NC and Maoist Center had made alliance for the post of mayor and deputy-mayor in this sub-metropolis.

Speaking with the media persons immediately after the announcement of the result, newly elected Mayor Subedi said that he will make Butwal as the best sub-metropolitan city of Nepal and expressed his commitment to give the continuation to develop the city.
