Seven officials of Transport Management Office suspended for registering stolen vehicles

KATHMANDU, July 20: The government has suspended seven officials including the acting chief of Transport Management Office, Mahakali on Thursday.

The staffers of TMO, Mahakali were suspended on the charge of bringing as many as 19 vehicles from India illegally and legalizing them through registration at the TMO, Mahakali.

The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport took action against acting chief of TMO, Mahakali Hemanta Bahadur Singh, Mechanical Engineer Deepak Thapa, three non-gazetted first class officers Narendra Joshi, Tara Datta Bhatta and Mahadev Bhatta. Similarly, Kharidar (non-gazetted) Keshav Datta Badu and Shyam Raj Ojha have been suspended.

Director General of the Department of Transport Management Rup Narayan Bhattarai  informed that they have suspended seven staffers for bringing vehicles illegally through India and registering them.

The fact came to the fore after the Revenue Regional Office Pathlaiya, Custom Office Bara, among others, lodged complaints at the DTM.

The DTM had reported about it to the concerned Ministry seeking action against the corrupt officials for legalizing the stolen vehicles through registration, said Bhattarai.
