BABIYACHAUR, July 30: Grants amount over Rs 40 million were distributed to the earthquake survivors of Myagdi district for the reconstruction of private houses.

The first-tranche of grants was deposited to the bank accounts of local beneficiaries whose houses were completely damaged in and aftermath of the 25 April 2015 earthquake.
Information Officer at the District Coordination Committee Padma Bhandari shared that total amount of Rs 42.25 million was distributed to 845 households of Myagdi at the rate of Rs 50,000 each.

According to Bhandari, the list of earthquake survivors would be updated listening to the complaints of those missed and necessary certification would be made in the first phase while in the second phase technical teams would be mobilized for field survey.

Though the National Reconstruction Fund had the target of depositing the first tranche of grants to the bank accounts of earthquake survivors of less affected districts before April 2017, it was delayed due to time-taking grants contract signing process and local level elections.

As per the provision, the District Treasury Office, on the recommendation of the District Coordination Committee, would deposit Rs 300,000 to the bank accounts of the quake survivors in four phases as per the contract with the beneficiaries. RSS
