Life Back On Track

Life Back On Track

Forty one-year-old Sita Khadka, originally from Sindhupalchowk, sells cucumber slices on the streets of Kathmandu. She got married at the age of 14, and is currently living in Om Bahal, Kathmandu. Her 21-year-old son lives with her, while her other 24-year-old son lives in Sundhupalchowk and looks after her father-in-law. Her husband died 12 years ago due to excessive alcohol consumption. She started earning for the family ever since. Though she is unable to earn much, she says the income is just enough to feed herself. Her sons earn for the rest of the family. She says spiritual practice has helped her to be content in life after her husband’s death. Sita had joined Om Shanti to divert her mind from the grief of her husband’s loss and the practice has now become her daily routine. She works from around 10 in the morning till six in the evening. Having faced turbulent times in the past, she says her life is currently on track and that she is happy with whatever she has.
