Country's progress possible by encouraging private sector: Dr Mahat

KATHMANDU, July 23: Nepali Congress leader, Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, today said the country's progress would be possible only by encouraging the private sector.

At an interaction 'BP's Ideology and NSU' organized by Nepal Student Union, Lamjung-Kathmandu Liaison Committee on the occasion of the 34th Memorial Day of BP Koirala here, the former Finance Minister Dr Mahat said, "The country is slowly moving towards development as it has adopted the policy of democratic socialist economy, an agenda advanced by the Nepali Congress."

He said roadways, schools and health posts had reached villages due to such liberal economic policy.

On the occasion, NC central member, Govinda Bhattarai, commended the big role played by NSU in Nepal's political, educational and social uprisings and stressed on need for it to hold timely convention.

Lawmaker, Chandra Bahadur Kunwar, said the prime challenge to drive the country on path of development remained with implementing the constitution.

NSU Liaison Committee President, Kishor Poudel, former NSU Vice President, Pramod Hari Guragain, and central member, Shailendra Ghimire, among others called for an end to factionalism in the student union. RSS
