KATHMANDU, August 17: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), the state-owned oil monopoly, has tightened up on the journalists’ entry in to the premises of the corporation.

NOC Managing Director Gopal Khadka has fixed the time table for journalists after the misappropriation committed in the land procurement for the NOC was made public one after the other through the media.

NOC security guard does not allow journalists to enter the premises before 2 pm. “We have been ordered not to allow journalists enter into the premises before 2 pm,” one of the guards said.

MD has issued a circulation disallowing the journalists to enter the NOC premises before 2 pm. “We would like to request the journalists to enter the premises only after 2 pm due to hectic schedule,” reads the notice.

NOC, an urgent service provider, should not set the time table for the journalists to enter its premises, said Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) President Mahendra Bista.

“We should not discourage journalists by fixing the time table,” said Bista. “We should provide them access to any kind of information related to NOC.”

However, Birendra Goit, spokesperson of the NOC, said that he has not been informed regarding the restriction imposed on the journalists’ entry into the office.
