GAUSHALA, August 29: A 70 – year – old farmer was crushed to death by a tractor being used to plough the field at Laxminiya area of Gaushala municipality – 11 of Mahottari district. 

The deceased has been identified as Mahadev Yadav of the same locality, District Police Office, Mahottari said. 

Yadav was plowing the field from the back of the tractor (Na 4 Ta 8344) on Monday evening when he tripped over and fell on the path of the tractor. He was killed on the spot after the tractor ran over him, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Kuber Kathayat. 

The farmer's body has been taken to the Jaleshwor District Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The Kanti Bazaar Police Post has impounded the tractor. The authorities are searching for the tractor driver who fled following the unfortunate incident.
