Second day of NADA auto show attracts larger crowd

Second day of NADA auto show attracts larger crowd

KATHMANDU: The second day of 12th NADA Auto Show being held at Bhrikutimandap, Exhibition Road saw a comparatively larger number of visitors on Wednesday.

The NADA Auto Show is one of the much-awaited automobile events. Every year, the show is known to have introduced something new to the Nepali automobile enthusiasts, both in two-wheelers and four-wheelers sections. This year’s auto show is being jointly organized by NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal and Global Exposition and Management Services Pvt Ltd.

The exhibition hall has been decorated with various stalls of leading automobile brands. The stalls boast 16 different brands of four-wheelers, 19 brands of two-wheelers and six brands of heavy commercial trucks along with stalls for accessories, car parts, insurances, different banks and food stalls.

Ford’s Mustang has been the celebrity of the show as people have been crowding around the vehicle to click pictures of and with the muscle car.

While the show focuses majorly on four-wheelers, a large number of crowds can also be seen inquiring about two-wheelers. Bishal Regmi, an engineering student at Kathmandu Engineering College, was here on Wednesday specifically to inquire about FZ-52 at the Yamaha’s stall. “I have been waiting for this bike for so long. I couldn’t book it last week but, I’m looking forward to book this sweet ride for myself.”

On Wednesday, visitors had also gathered at the game stalls in the open ground playing darts and wheel of fortune. A massive crowd of youngsters hooting for their participating friends and family members definitely made people turn their heads.

The show also has a UM Renegade Commando 230cc motorcycle as the bumper door prize on tickets.

The show is slated to run until September 3.

Brand Ambassadors of NADA Auto Show

Madan Krishna Shrestha, Comedian

On being the brand ambassador

The NADA Auto Show approached Hari Bansa and me to become the brand ambassadors because we are known faces in the country. As brand ambassadors, we are expected to promote the event and establish a good image for the show.

Current choice of four-wheeler

I am currently using Maruti Swift. I believe in buying vehicles that are fit for daily drives and last long. I don’t really care about fancy or high-end cars.

Today’s road scenario

Although the government is expanding roads in various places, they are of substandard quality and damage easily. The increasing air pollution due to never-ending road construction has also hit the lives of common people. Serpentine traffic jams is another age-old problem in the city.

Things required to avert road hassles

The tax that we pay to the government should be utilized for the welfare of the public. For proper development of roads in the city, there must be coordination between sewage and drainage departments, telephone department and road construction department.

Hari Bansha Acharaya, Comedian

On being the brand ambassador

My role as the brand ambassador is to make people picture my face whenever they hear or read about the NADA Auto Show. I have worked rigorously for the show’s promotion. I acted for a television commercial and did a photo shoot for print media as well as hoarding boards. Along with that, I also took part in a blood donation program organized by the show.

Current choice of four-wheeler

I am currently using the Mahindra Scorpio. The vehicle is apt for my need for now. I don’t plan on buying a new car anytime soon.

Today’s road scenario

Although there is a high demand for high-end and exotic cars as well as bikes in Nepal, we don’t have quality infrastructure. The roads are uneven at most places and filled with potholes. Although the government is expanding roads, that is not the solution to all traffic-related problems.

Things required to avert road hassles

We need at least over 20 flyovers in the city to lessen traffic jams. Moreover, the public should strictly follow traffic rules and drive responsibly even in the absence of traffic cops. Also, the tendency of insurance companies paying for the loss in accidents encourages some unscrupulous public vehicle drivers to drive recklessly.
