KATHMANDU, July 25: APF Club and Eastern Region are set to vie for the title of the National Women's Selection Cricket Championship (20 overs) on Tuesday at the Tribhuvan University Ground in Kirtipur.

The final match between APF and Eastern was confirmed after Eastern topped Group B on Monday. APF had already confirmed a place in the final on Sunday winning both of its matches in Group A.

On Monday, Eastern topped the group on net run rate despite having equal three points as that of Far-western. Both the teams collected equal points after their match was abandoned due to rain. Both the teams had defeated Western Region in their first match.

Group A and B had three teams each.

Meanwhile, Mid-western Region recorded five wickets win over Central Region in a dead rubber match as both the teams have already been knocked out of the tournament.

In the match reduced to 10 overs due to bad weather, Central, opting to bat first, put 57 runs losing four wickets with Rachana Aryal's unbeaten 22 runs off 30 balls. Sita Shrestha added 12 runs facing 15 balls.

Nary Thapa Magar picked up two wickets and Geeta Goshai bagged a wicket for Mid-western.

In reply, Mid-western completed the target in the last ball of the innings losing five wickets as Laxmi Chaudhary hit 33-ball 39. Player-of-the-match Laxmi hit four boundaries to confirm Mid-western's victory. Nary contributed 10 runs for the team.

Central's Asmina Karmacharya, Sita Shrestha, Sobha Ale and Geeta Chudal pocketed a wicket each.

National Sports Council has formed a cricket coordination committee to hold the tournament to select players for the ICC Women's World Cup Qualifiers for Asia region slated for October 9 to 15 at the Tin Kwong Recreation Ground in Hong Kong.

NSC is holding the event following the suspension of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
